LAFC v Portland

Despite the win, Portland were not impressive Monday night. Niezgoda continues to not live up to the DP-tag. SKC just didn’t have the requisite quality to break down Portland’s low block in that second half. That will not be the same against the league’s defending champions.

LAFC will begin the campaign a week later than anticipated with the weird LA weather. Vela and Bouanga should wreck havoc cutting in from the wings with the outside backs overlapping. Plus, the full 3252 will be loudyl behind the boys in black and gold.

Austin v Montreal

Two pure chaos teams and the total is only 2.75. Count me in!

Austin lost starting CB Julio Cascante after only 11 minutes last week. They were already thin at that spot with Gabrielsen moving in the off season. Plus, now there’s internal drama so Austin’s best d-mid, Alex Ring, is left out of the starting 11. Austin’s attack is still dangerous led by an MVP-level Sebastian Driussi.

Losada-ball might be the Almeyda-ball. Their first game saw a combined 4+ xG. Starting GK, Pantemis got subbed out after a shoulder injury, so it looks like backup Jonathan Sirois will start between the pipes. Aaron Herrera supports the attack in a Kieran Trippier at Atletico Madrid type RB. Herrera had 3 key passes last week, Let’s hope Quioto doesn’t miss a sitter as he is all to known to do.

Inter Miami v Philly

If Miami are giving up 2xG to Montreal, it could get ugly against the top team in the East. I don’t rate this Montreal team, especially early under Losada. So, that’s a wash for me.

Although Uhre went off early, that opens the path for Joaquin Torres to get more minutes and be more dynamic in the attack. Right now Philly is the best team in the East, and I don’t think that’s really debatable. Even though the Crew kicked em in the mouth the first half, there’s just a quality difference here. I’ll take the Union to get three points on the road.
